Opposition hopefuls and campaigners were detained or excluded before the 9 August 2020 vote. OSCE/ODIHR received no timely invitation and could not deploy an observation mission. It therefore cannot be cited for an independent vote tally.

Amnesty International described video which, in its assessment, shows him empty-handed when shot, contrary to the authorities’ initial account of an explosive device. This is the organisation’s assessment, not a judicial finding about a particular shooter.
